Using homemade tools and a systematic painting process, Aliza Morell works with an intensity and rigor that belie her cool, mysterious paintings. Color, light and mood take over, creating evocative images rather than a clear narrative. She is originally from Ann Arbor, MI, and now lives in Queens with her husband and daughter.
